GEMMA (30s) is getting married. The ring is secured, bridesmaids dresses ordered, date is set - it’s all going perfectly. Until, out of the blue, NOEL dumps her. He’s sacking her off to participate in Gorey Shore, a new reality dating show. Her friends AINE and SOPHIE don’t provide much comfort, their advice to go on a juice cleanse somehow doesn’t do much to heal Gemma’s broken heart. But at her lowest moment, inspiration strikes. Gemma’s taking something back for herself. She’s going to go back to Irish Dancing. Her class is run with militant precision by waning star PAT, and attended by KIM and KELLY, two whip-smart, emotionally healthy gen-zers who have had a very different upbringing to our millennial Gemma. With their help, Gemma begins to unlearn the damaging rhetoric around relationships and body image that her fellow millenials are so entrenched in, and prepares for her end of term show. As the performance approaches, we wonder will Gemma shine and stick it to her exboyfriend, or will her obsession with perfection be her downfall?
